Protecting Nature, Empowering Communities, Preserving Wildlife
Bunyoro Tourism and Environmental Conservation Program (BUTECOP) is a community-based organization that strives for environmental conservation and rural development in the heart of Uganda.
Our program started in 2011 by dedicated community members with the aim of protecting the remaining forest and chimpanzee populations in the area and to mitigate the highly relevant human-chimpanzee conflicts.
Bunyoro has a rich diversity of species and natural aesthetics that we utilize for tourism, promoting their sustainable conservation while empowering local communities.
